Herdsires
Baxter...our resident Herdsire
Update! Baxter the Herdsire, is now Baxter the GELDING...would make an excellent cart donkey, or companion animal
Because Baxter was never registered, but is so correct and throws beautiful foals, we are in the process of registering him under our farm name. He recently came to us with a small herd we purchased, and liked him so much we have decided to keep him as our herdsire. He has already produced 2 jack foals that we have available for sale in September, and has bred Rosa and JoJo for spring of '07.
We love his head, and his markings, and his rump is nice and round. He is built like a brick and isn't afraid to strut his stuff! His color is so deep he is almost black. Some people have argued that he is indeed black, but he know he is dark chocolate. He tends to produce chocolate foals also. He has a hilarious personality. He acts like he's all "that", until the girls put him in his place. We literally have to standby and make sure he gets his grain, as he is so whipped by his ladies that he will give it up to them if they even look sideways at him. He has the loudest bray we've ever heard on our farm! He will play with his offspring like he is a foal himself, then when he's all tuckered out...he heads for the barn for some shade and peace and quiet. We keep him in Zanesville...on Rhonda's Dad's farm with a couple of his gals. He is safe to pasture with foals and jennets, and only acts like a Jack when he's needed to perform his duty.
He thinks he is a dog. He lays his head on my shoulder, and has even tried to put his front leg over my knees to sit on my lap! His babies tend to have his super charming personality...and he has a supercharged brayer on him also!!!
Please scratch under my chin...I'll love you forever! Got any hotdog buns...or doughnuts...or raisin bread on ya!?
Baxter's D.O.B 2000, exact date unknown as formers owners kept no records
We are fortunate to have several Jennets who are bred to nice Jacks which we do not own, but are so excited to be expecting their offspring.
Penny is bred to Zane Trail Farms Festus, and Isabel to King Coal, grandson of Black Russian, and Aster to Smokey Joe, a great looking registered Choc.Brown Jack from PA.
